Independence Day

Independence Day is the national festival of India. It is celebrated on 15th August every year. It is celebrated because India got Independence from the Britishers on 15th August 1947. It is also declared as a national holiday. The national flag is hoisted on this day. The national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ is sung on this day. This year, we are going to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of our Independence Day. On this day, we remember the sacrifices of our great freedom fighters. Every state and union territory of our country celebrate this day with great enthusiasm. The Prime Minister hoists the national flag at the Red Fort, Delhi. Hoisting the tri-colour flag and singing the national anthem are the apex of the celebration. Independence Day keeps the world informed about our rich history and heritage. The people take to the streets and rejoice in adoring the replicas of the national flag. The children are reminded of the struggle for independence and value it more. It is a proud day for the country.
